Go For Health! Collaborative

Initiated in 2004, Go for Health! (GFH) is a collaborative that brings together over 30 agencies to reduce obesity in Santa Cruz County. Our community agencies address obesity prevention through: garden education, food security, health and wellness, parent education, safe and active transportation, youth leadership, and more.

Our Vision: A thriving and equitable community that supports a healthy lifestyle

Our Mission: Go for Health! Supports education, policies, systems and environmental changes to reduce obesity by promoting healthy eating and active living for all.

Each year we prioritize activities towards our goal. For 2018, Family Wellness is our overall initiative. While each agency continues their unique work, four GFH task teams address our 2018 priorities.

2018 Task Teams:

Wellness Advocates: Supports wellness policy work in schools, afterschool programs, and community organizations for a broad impact on health throughout our county
Family Engagement: Strives to increase parent leadership in the community and in obesity prevention efforts
Collaboration/Mapping: Identifies community assets to address gaps, avoid duplicating work, and maximize the collective efforts of diverse agencies towards obesity prevention
Collaboration/Messaging: Promotes county-wide health messaging, and networking opportunities within GFH to strengthen our reach
