HIV/AIDS Statistics and Reporting

Santa Cruz County operates a confidential state-mandated database in cooperation with the California State Office of AIDS to maintain accurate data regarding HIV/AIDS statistics in the county. The system is referred to as a HARS System (HIV and AIDS Reporting System) and data is updated daily. Timely and accurate reporting of HIV/AIDS cases provide the necessary information to determine local epidemiological information regarding the spread of the disease. This data also is used when applying for grants and additional funding to support those infected and affected by this disease.

An annual HIV/AIDS status report for Santa Cruz County is generated by the surveillance program and is available on request.
